How estimates work
This calculator is a directional comparison, not a quote. It uses pricing tiers and project limits we maintain in our tools directory. When a vendor publishes clear tier tables, we map your inputs to the cheapest plan that fits. When pricing is usage-based or sales-led, we show Contact sales instead of guessing.
- Pageviews drive Plausible, Fathom, and Hotjar estimates. Hotjar is approximated from pageviews (assuming ~3 pages per session).
- Custom events are added to pageviews for event-based tools (PostHog, Umami, DataFast, Matomo Cloud).
- Sites / projects can change the required plan: GA4 stays free across properties; Plausible switches to Growth for 2–3 sites; DataFast switches to Growth for 2–30 sites; Fathom, Hotjar, and Matomo Cloud are estimated per site.
What we do not model yet: annual discounts, add-ons, team seats, data retention upgrades, exact PostHog usage above 1M events, or enterprise contracts (GA4 360). Those need a vendor quote.
